1. HOW HE GOT THE SURNAME AMBEDKAR?
When Bhimrao was born, his initial name was Bhimrao Ramji Sakpal Ambawadekar, not Ambedkar.
There is a story behind how he got the surname Ambedkar. He got the surname from his teacher whose name is Krishnaji Keshav Ambedkar. He gave his surname to Bhimrao so that he could not face any problems in the future because of his name.

2. AMBEDKAR WAS THE FIRST INDIAN TO PURSUE A DIRECTORATE IN ECONOMICS ABROAD
Yes! Ambedkar Ji rocks! He is also the first one to pursue a PhD in Economics and the first double doctorate holder in Economics in South Asia. Ambedkar was also among the highest educated Indians of his time.
When he was at Columbia University for three years, he took 29 courses in economics, 6 in sociology, 11 in history, 5 in philosophy, 4 in anthropology, 3 in politics, and 1-1 each in elementary French and German! He was so brilliant!
3. HE CHANGED WORKING HOURS IN INDIA
Ambedkar changed the working hours in India from 12 hours to 8 hours. Thank you, Ambedkar Ji!
4. HIS AUTOBIOGRAPHY AS A TEXTBOOK
Ambedkar's 20-page autobiography, titled Waiting for Visa is used as a textbook at Columbia University. He wrote it after his return from America and Europe. In his book, e has told about his childhood experiences of untouchability.
5. HE OPPOSED THE DRAFT OF ARTICLE 370
Yes! Ambedkar Ji opposed the draft of Article 370 which gave a special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir, he said that this law is against in integrity and unity of our nation. Article 370 was drafted by Gopalswamy Ayyangar, former Diwan to Maharajah Hari Singh of Jammu and Kashmir.
6. HE GOT BHARAT RATNA
He got Bharat Ratna in the year of 1990. Wow!
7. ONLY HE PASSED THE EXAMINATIONS
Of his 2 brothers and 2 sisters, only he passes the examinations and went to high school.
8. HE WAS MARRIED AT 15
At the age of 15, he was married to a 9-year-old girl Ramabai. After the death of his first wife in 1935, he was married to Dr Sharada Kabir who took the name Savita Ambedkar.

He has the most number of statues in the world. Yes, it is true!
10. HE KNEW 9 LANGUAGES
Yes! That is absolutely true. He knew 9 languages.
