6 ADVANTAGES OF LEARNING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE(S)

Learning a new language may seem hard at first but it will get easy as you practice. But trust me learning a new language comes with ample benefits. I am myself learning French. And we Indians are lucky as we already know 2 languages- our mother tongue and English. So for us learning a third language may seem to be an easier task.

And in this blog, I will share 10 benefits of learning a foreign language(s) with you. So let's get started.

1. BETTER MEMORY

Yes, learning a new language does enhance your memory power. According to research conducted by Julia Morales of Spain's Granda University, children who learn a second language can recall memories better than others who are monolingual or just know one language. You don't need to become a pro, just memorise phrases of new languages and use them whenever you can.

2. BETTER LISTENING SKILLS

Language learning requires one to be attentive. And we need to listen to words and phrases very carefully as each word has different sounds and pronunciations. And day by day as we learn a new language our listening skills will increase.

3. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES WILL INCREASE

Companies nowadays look for more skilled workers than just degree holders. For example, there is a person called A who just knows Hindi and English and there is another person called B who knows Hindi, English and German. They both go for a job interview. Now you tell me who has higher chances of getting employed? Of course, B as he/she knows the third language. But you may ask why? It is because if they would want to expand their companies to other countries then they can when they will have someone who is educated and knows foreign languages. 

If you know a third language then you will also be able to go and work in that country where the language you have learnt is spoken.

4. MAKE NEW FRIENDS

You can make new friends if you know a third language as you will be able to break all the communication barriers and connect with them. For example, if you know French then you will be able to make French friends. 

5. YOU WILL LEARN ANOTHER LANGUAGE FASTER

When you learn your first foreign language, it will be a Lil bit hard but trust me it will increase your brainpower to learn other foreign languages much faster. And that's actually true,

6. THE FIRST LANGUAGE IMPROVED

Let's say that you are learning Spanish through English. Then not only you will learn Spanish but will also have your English much more improved as when you will see new words of Spanish then you will translate it to English then also if you do not understand it you will search its meaning. And it results in increased vocabulary.
